Kampong Glam , named after the Glam tree which still grows there is a very unique district which combines traditional shops, local designers, galleries and eateries.

We will walk from the Lavender MRT along Kallang walk and cross the Rochor River before we arrive at the premises of Madjid Hajija Fatimah ,built in 1846 and designed in a mix of Islamic and European architectural styles.

From here we will continue to another hidden gem located near the Kampong Glam community centre, the “army market” where one can find items from flashlights, uniforms, bags and camping equipment.
Continue on Jalan Sultan in the heart of Kampong Glam near the Sultan’s Mosque and the Sultan Arts Village showcasing public art and murals painted by local artists.

After a short break on Bussorah Street we will learn about the local Islamic tradition and see the surrounding shops selling special perfumes suitable for the Muslim community and items needed for the pilgrimage to Mecca (the Haj ) we will continue on Haji lane ,considered the narrowest street in Singapore and explore local shops and trendy boutiques.
