Our tour will take us to a part of Katong in the East Coast where early 19th Century coconut plantations became seaside retreats for the wealthy in the 1950s. It is a melting pot of Peranakan Chinese, Eurasians, Malays and Indians.

We will learn about Peranakan culture, food and tradition as well as the various architecture styles of the shophouses along East Coast Road, Joo Chiat and the iconic colourful ornated terrace rows on Koon Seng Road.

Our guide will share stories about landmark shops such as the “Red House Bakery” and “Tay Buan Guam”, one of the first supermarkets in Singapore back in the days.

We will also stop at the Kim Choo Kueh Chang shop selling the famous rice dumplings and get a chance to see a beautiful collection of Perankan antique furniture , Nonyaware as well as beaded shoes and typical clothes.

Along the way we will see various murals by local artists.
Tour will end at a Peranakan restaurant offering typical Peranakan food at your own cost.
